Wye River Event
September 14 - 15
CBTSC rented the picnic pavilion at the Wye River Conference Center on Granary Creek Tuesday and Wednesday, September 14 and 15. We are using the picnic area only, not the lodge. There are rest rooms in the pavilion, and we can use their charcoal barbecue grill. Members can dock their dinghy at the small dock attached to the property only on Tuesday and Wednesday; no one is permitted on the property before or after those days. This dock is only for dinghies. Anchoring in Granary Creek is good. It is a very protected creek.
On Tuesday evening the club will provide hot dogs, buns, mustard, ketchup, raw onions, and chips for dinner. Members with their last name beginning with A to I will bring appetizers, J to R will bring side dishes and S to Z will bring desserts to share. Also, everyone must bring their own beverages. We will gather at the picnic tables in the pavilion. After dinner we will have a surprise guest speaker who will give a short talk.
On Wednesday we will have our Wye competitions (burlap races, balloon toss, and some new games) starting at 10 am. Please meet at the pavilion where the games will begin. We have some awesome prizes. In the evening we will gather again. Last names beginning with M - Z will bring appetizers to share. Desserts will be contributed by A - L. You will need to bring your own dinner and beverages. We will have an awards ceremony during happy hour. The barbeque grill can be used, should you need it.
Wye Island is managed by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources Natural Resource Management, and the island is 80% park. There are a number of trails that you can explore. Registration is now open. There is no attendance fee, but if you need to cancel, please let me know in advance. To register go to our website, CBTSC.org and click on the event, Wye River Get-together. On the right side of the screen is “Register Now” and “Registrants.” Click on Register Now and follow the instructions to register yourself and your crew.
I am writing this now so that you can save the date. The Scotch and biking rendezvous will follow this event.
